Edit with AI

An assistant that reads your whole project and proposes changes you accept or reject.

Work together

Edit the same file at the same time and see each other's cursors.

Review every edit as a diff

Ask the assistant for a change and it proposes edits across your files, not just the one you have open. Each edit appears as a diff in the editor, and you accept or reject it one by one. Nothing is applied until you decide.

Let the AI fix compile errors

The assistant sees the errors from your last compilation, so you don't have to copy them into the chat. It finds the cause in your files and proposes the fix as a diff for you to review.

Version history, so nothing is lost

After every successful compilation, Texmate saves a snapshot of all your files. Open the version history to look back at any of those snapshots.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. In anonymous mode your files stay in your browser and you can write and compile. Create an account to get cloud projects, collaboration and the AI chat. Your local files are moved to the cloud when you sign in.

Is Texmate free?

Yes. The Free plan includes unlimited projects, collaborators and compilations plus a monthly allowance of AI credits. Upgrade to Pro if you need more credits.

How is Texmate different from Overleaf?

Texmate has AI built in, so you can fix errors, rewrite text or generate content without leaving your editor, and collaboration is included in the Free plan.

Can I import my Overleaf projects?

Yes. Download your Overleaf project as a ZIP and import it from the Projects menu.

How does collaboration work?

Add a collaborator by email from the Projects menu. You will both edit the same file in real time and see each other's cursors.

Is my data secure?

Anonymous projects never leave your browser. Cloud projects are stored securely and only you and your collaborators can access them.

How does the AI assistant work?

Open the chat and ask anything about your document. The assistant can read your project, explain compile errors and suggest edits that appear in the editor, where you accept or reject each one.

What AI models does Texmate use?

Several state-of-the-art models. Pick the one you prefer or switch between them depending on the task.
